Poppy flowers all over the place. You can see them out on the fields and almost on evrey photoblog that has some nature pictures in its arsenal – here is mine. A little bit crumpled, but hey, at least its got all its leaves on.

dragonfly on the watchtower
Dragonflies are predators. In fact they help control the population of harmfull insects like mosiquitos. They can fly back an forth and even stall like helicopters. Their eyesight is 360° and they prefer to sit on higher grounds. So nature does have its killermachine up and flying…. good they do not get that big. Talking about sizes: I need to get a macro lens anytime soon…
tired after all
My doc told me to stay at home, drink tea, and put my body to rest, so I decided to put myself on a confotable airmat in the garden – off course not without my camera. Up in the maple branches above me, a huge squirrel was satisfying its hunger and finally took a litlle nap afterwards.
Sad that the red ones living here in germany will be driven out by its grey american relatives. Looks like america is dominant in more ways than just politics.
bussy bees
Last two days weather picked up and my new tele lens arived. I walked through our garden, and right below the willow tree the air was full of a bold “hmmmmmm”. As I looked up I saw hundreds of bees busy to get their first feast of the year.

There are about 700 different subspecies of inguanas, making it hard to distinguish them from each other. Well, this one here tripped over the digital color bucket photoshopwise, so in real life it is more pale, but I couldn’t resist coloring it.
beauty asleep
Did you know that flamingos are more colorful when they are healthy? They need a certain amount of pigments in their food, mostly carotene from shrimps. This one from the Zoo in Frankfurt looks definately healthy, although it might suffer from lack of sleep due to the crowds passing by.
spring is comming to town
It was raining all day long and suddenly the clouds opened up and sun send its rays, leaving every drop a spectacular prism. I stumbled outdoors and took this one right on my doorstep. The sensor inside my D50 overloaded because of false settings and where you see the sunspot right now a bold white strip was reaching from top to bottom. Due to heavy-happy photoshopping it is gone now.

Spent a week in London where I met this old fellow while waiting for the squirrels to show up.
Although London is great city I must admit that something alway brought me back to Hyde Park with all its inhabitants. Maybe it’s for the contrast: No noise, no stress, not much people… well, and than old goosy trying to ripp off my peanuts.

zak mckracken and the evil squirrels
I always wondered if they really exist! Beeing an avid Zak McKracken player, back in the eighties, Lucas Film Games (Lucas Arts) introduced the two headed squirrel… couldn’t find it throughout Hyde Park, so his single-headed buddy came in handy.
blackout typo
One should think that London is a modern – if not one of the uptodate towns – in hindsight of electronics. Maybe it is around city center and shopping malls, but in certain places it can’t hide it’s age.
Gave this pic a go, as I had some problems with my typo3 insallation lately. To be honest: Typo is by far too big to use it for such a small site.

Old seamen cemetery, right by the seaside at Saint Michelle en Gréve, France. We arrived after driving for about 13 hours. Just dropped the luggage at our house and went down to the next beach we could find. Old men resting their bones where as the younger once risking theirs via kitesurfing

Every year the Budosola – Budocan summer camp is held in Flüelen, Switzerland – 1400m above sealevel. This year it was more like holliday and so I got up pretty early and wandered the meadows for some nice pictures.

One picture form the first set, I took with my new D50. Weather was fairly bad that day and sun was about to disappear. I had to hunt down something in my appartment. So Krümelmonster, as he is calledn in germany, was my first victim. I should have undusted him in first place, but I bet you know what it is like to have a new toy: You don’t care about details. That’s why the whole image is not sharp eather. I just wanted it to be the first post here, as it was almost the first picture I took. Better to come.

Nadine and me spent a couple of days in Potsdam. It was pretty cold and we stayed at my cousines flat, where we had to fire up an old charring furnace with coal from the basement.
