Storknado

When I’m at work, I often make a quick dash to the supermarket—just five minutes away—during my lunch break to grab something to eat. Until the middle of the year, the route there took me across a large field where buzzards, falcons, and even the occasional heron used to hunt. Now, the field is cordoned off and heavy construction machinery is rumbling about… Karben’s new local recreation area is taking shape. The last few times I walked past the field along the road, the large buzzard wasn’t perched in the surrounding trees or on nearby houses as usual; instead, it was sitting right on the ground, completely unfazed by the commotion. Of course, whenever I actually bring my camera along, it’s nowhere to be found—though I was treated to the sight of a swirling vortex of countless storks in the sky. At first, I thought they were cranes, but I didn’t hear any calls. I had never seen so many of them gathered in one place before, nor did I know they traveled in such large flocks. I always struggle with large crowds of animals—it’s hard to get good photos, so this is really just for documentation purposes.
