Ostpark (Eastpark)

Funny thing. I spent almost every day of the late 90s right next to Ostpark, yet I rarely actually went inside. Even though I captured the summer there during a photography course in college—and a colony of grey herons lived on the island years later—I never really visited much after that. On my way to my weekly training session, which now takes place in Bornheim (we lost our dojo and are looking for a new training spot—please let me know if you hear of anything), I simply cycled through the park again. I enjoyed the sight of the large lake and, to my surprise, discovered a flock of rose-ringed parakeets perched in a tree, chattering away happily. I headed back out last Friday, but rose-ringed parakeets are smart and don’t show up in blazing sunshine; plus, it was very windy. Still, since I was already there, I took a look around, and I’m sharing a few photos of everything I saw during that hour. I might hang out there again tomorrow… who’s coming along? 😉
