Lookin’ at me?!
Jungle crows can be encountered everywhere in Japan—typically more often in cities than in the wild. The food supply is simply more abundant there; even though we had quite a struggle finding trash cans ourselves, these birds—like all members of their species—are prone to rummaging through waste bins or tearing open garbage bags while foraging, which is why they are often perceived as a nuisance. That stare, combined with their massive beaks, prompted me to keep a respectful distance.
