Blue-Grey Visitor
Every now and then, I fill the small wooden bowl—which I attached to one of the branches I brought back from the forest for my balcony—with treats. Usually, the two plump pigeons show up and quickly eat their fill. The tits like to peck at the food too, and that ruffian of a squirrel has been known to spill the whole lot, leading to wild plant growth in the flower pots sitting below—we even got a few sunflowers out of it, though they didn’t withstand the heat for long. Recently, we found moths in some nut mixes, and my wife emptied them into the bowl. That fellow started showing up occasionally, too; he couldn’t resist the nuts-with-meat combo for long. The photo, however, was taken a few days later, and what he’s got in his beak really does look like meat—perhaps leftovers from the neighbor’s barbecue. Bon appétit!
